Greetings from Minnesota! I am enjoying the information and pictures of
Hedalen. I am from the Flaten and Jorandby-Haugen family and know well the stories of Hedalen. 

I have heard from my cousin Elise Mosaker that Kristine Flaten passed away this year. I know her mother, Gudrun Sukke, lives in Hedalen. Perhaps you know of them well. Many of my family have visited Hedalen over the years since my Grandfather Christopher O. Flaten came from Hedalen to Kenyon, Minnesota, in 1898. 

One generation before that, Knute Syverson Haugen and his father Syver O.
Jorandbyhaugen left Hedalen in the 1850's to settle near Kenyon in
Wanamingo Township near where I live in Cannon Falls. 

This is all in Goodhue County. Many of us still live nearby and appreciate and
celebrate our Norwegian roots. There are 21 first cousins who are
grandchildren of Christopher, and quite a few of us have visited Hedalen. 

I hope to sometime, too. Please pass along our greetings to all of the family and friends in Hedalen, as many of them know of us, too. I know little Norwegian, but I do know "Hilsen fra Minnesota!"
